PAUL CAMPBELL’S KARATE ACADEMY IN DUDLEY

PC Karate Academy, of Brierley Hill, Dudley, was founded in 1981 by Shihan Paul Campbell, 8th Dan who started with a class of 6 students. Today, Paul has over 150 students training each week over 9 classes, with students as young as 4 years old participating in classes run by the group.

We have a good and proud tradition of developing confidence and improving discipline and respect in our students. Paul believes that Karate should be available to everyone, regardless of what area they live in or social background. We have a tradition within the club for strong discipline and etiquette and through this we are proud to say the club has gained respect worldwide.

In June 2018 Paul became Vice President of the English Karate . in may 2019 Paul was appointed to the board of directors of the british karate federation. These ended directorships ended November 2021

ABOUT PAUL CAMPBELL – FOUNDER, CEO & CHIEF INSTRUCTOR

Paul started Karate aged 12. After trying out various martial arts, Paul concentrated on Shotokan Karate when he was 17 under the tutelage of Mick Simmons who heralded from Clive Tandy, via Asano Sensei and Kanazawa Sensei. Since then he has through the years trained many students throughout the country including RAF and Army personnel and at P C Karate Academy, which was founded in 1981.

Paul has taught all over the world, in places like Germany, USA, France, Jamaica and more recently in Morocco.

His industrial background was a Quality Manager (1986 – 1992) and then a Production/Works Manager (1993 -1998). Paul has struck a balance with developing his Karate Clubs and his education, which he sees as important for him, culminating in him obtaining a BA (Hons.) Degree in Sport & Recreation Management from Birmingham University in 2006.

Paul currently teaches Karate 5 days a week and holds the grade of 8th Dan.

On 2nd June 2018, Paul was appointed EKF Vice President & Treasurer.

In May 2019 Paul became a director of the British Karate Federation.

In June 2020 Paul was appointed as one of the directors of Karate Unification Board. 

WORLD CLASS INSTRUCTORS

Paul has taught all over the world, in places like Germany, USA, Jamaica and more recently in Morocco.  In 1994 Paul won the Black Belt Heavy Weight Division in the Jamaican Open Championships and in 2002 led his team to victory to take the coveted team gold.

Paul currently holds the grade of 8th Dan Karate Black Belt and is Chairman of the United Styles Association (USA) which has some 1000 members. Paul has struck an excellent balance with developing his Karate Clubs and his education, which is paramount to him, culminating in him obtaining a BA (Hons.) Degree in Leisure, Recreation and Sports Management from Birmingham University in 2006.

Paul organises 3 championships each year, UK Open Championships in February, United Styles Association championships in May.
